Town Madison
Just off of 565 sits Town Madison, a walkable community full of houses, apartments, hotels, retail shops, Toyota Field (home to the Trash Pandas) and, most importantly to a foodie like me, plenty of dining options.
J. Alexander’s
380 Town Madison Blvd, Madison, AL 35758 | Website
My favorite restaurant thus far is J. Alexander’s. My husband and I decided to celebrate our Anniversary there last year, so I made reservations online. I was asked if there was a celebration, so I told them of our special day. When we arrived and were seated, a nice Anniversary card was waiting for us at the table. Nice touch! For appetizers, we had the Deviled Eggs and the House Salad with Cilantro Lime Dressing. The eggs were really good and the salad dressing is now in my top 3 of restaurant dressings. For entrees, we had the Ahi Tuna with beefsteak tomatoes, olive oil, and basil, and the smashed potatoes, Bleu Cheese Filet with a loaded baked potato, and lemon reggiano broccoli. Everything was cooked perfectly and was so full of flavor. The atmosphere was perfect for date night and the service was top notch!
I Love Sushi Express
100 Outfield Dr Suite A, Madison, AL 35758 | Website
I am a sushi fanatic and I Love Sushi Express is one of my favorites. The quality of their ingredients is evident in every dish I have had there. It’s like Subway for sushi and such! For the Sushi Burrito and Poke Bowl, you choose your protein, veggies, fruits, toppings, and sauce. As much or as little as you would like. My most ordered combo for the sushirrito and poke bowl is the Ahi tuna and salmon, mango, avocado, cucumbers, edamame, garlic crisps, and the honey wasabi sauce. For the Donburi bowl, you choose between white rice, brown rice, or fried rice, then top it with toppings like chicken, shrimp, beef, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, potatoes, corn, fried egg, gyoza, and more. They also have a grab-and-go station if you would rather choose a sushi roll that is already made. If they don’t have your favorite already made, they will make it for you. You can get miso soup, spring rolls, and a variety of drinks like Calpico, Japanese sodas, Pepsi products, and green tea.
Prohibition Rooftop Restaurant + Bar
100 Moon Shot Dr Suite 120, Madison, AL 35758 | Website
Prohibition Rooftop Restaurant + Bar is self-described as “eclectic food meets inspired cocktails”. It IS that! The food and drinks are creative and absolutely delectable. Their Pork Bao Buns are definitely the star here. Smoked pork belly, quick pickled cucumbers, green onions, and pickled carrots and red onions. The bao buns are soft and flavorful, complemented by the sweet smokiness of the pork belly, and the crunch and acidity of the pickled veggies. The Crazy Cauliflower Bites are another fan fav, with its veggie approach to buffalo wings.
SaZa Serious Italian
501 Town Madison Blvd Suite A, Madison, AL 35758 | Website
Saza Serious Italian Food and its modern twist on traditional Italian food boasts a large menu of anything from Lobster Bisque to Manicotti to Pizzas and everything in between. My personal favorite is the Egg in Purgatory: two eggs poached in marinara, with reggiano, served with garlic bread sticks. Spicy with a hint of sweetness, and the creaminess of the eggs pair great with the garlic bread sticks. The Lobster Ravioli is delicious! Lobster, shrimp, and fennel, in a sherry lobster cream sauce. Perfection! The vibe at Saza is fun and energetic, and the service can’t be beat.
Taco Mama
102 St Louis St Suite E, Madison, AL 35758 | Website
Taco Mama is one of the newer additions to Town Madison. You can get burritos, tacos, nachos, and quesadillas with your choice of proteins and veggies if you want to build your own. If not, you can choose one of the taco or burrito baskets. I love the Ahi tuna tacos and the fried flounder tacos. The sriracha slaw and the ancho chili slaw are the perfect accompaniments to those two tacos. They have the very thin and crispy tortilla chips that I love, and those come with the baskets, along with a side of your choice.
Other restaurants at Town Madison include Five Guys, Outback, The Yard Milkshake Bar, Chipotle, Moe’s Original BBQ, Panda Express, Panera Bread, Slim Chickens, and Super Chix. If those weren’t already enough, coming soon are CAVA, Starbucks, Edgar’s, Lola’s Cocina, and Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux.
Make a plan for a girl’s day or night out, date night with that special someone, or treat yourself to a peaceful lunch or dinner alone! The Trash Pandas will resume play in a few months and that is a fun outing as well. You can stop by one of Town Madison’s abundance of restaurants or eat in the stadium at Champy’s, grab a burger, hot dog, pizza, veggie burger, or one of the other many food options at the several walk-up restaurants inside. They often even have local food trucks in the back of the outfield. If you want it, Town Madison has it!
