December Eat Local Challenge
Small businesses and locally owned restaurants are what make Huntsville-Huntsville. Challenge your foodie side with this monthly goal list that will increase your knowledge and palate of Huntsville’s local food scene.
The month of DECEMBER challenge includes two wine bars both with individual unique vibes and food, a taco truck with authentic street tacos, three breweries serving unique menu items from pizza to a take on Filipino lumpia.
All foods can fit into a healthy lifestyle and in true Rocket City Dietitian fashion, this list contains a mix of all types of foods from savory to sweet, health conscious to indulgent because #AllFoodsFit into a healthy lifestyle.

Menu offers items like blistered shishito peppers, chips and queso, salads, nachos, shrimp and grits, tacos, pizzas and sandwiches alongside housemade craft beer.

Thin fried crepe pastry filled with seasoned pork, fresh basil leaves, scallions flash fried and served with a sweet pepper sauce. It is larger than a traditional lumpia, but with similar taste and cut at a diagonal for easy dipping.

You can book this truck for events or enjoy their two area locations. Menu includes multas, empanadas, burritos, quesadillas, nachos, tamales, tortas/sandwiches and burrito bowls. The birria street tacos were #craveable with authentic flavors and a cosume that added the perfect savory finish to the savory, cheesy heat of these flavorful tacos.

Located inside the Yellow Hammer Brewing taproom on Campus 805 (an old middle school revamped and reimagined as campus for 2 breweries, restaurants, bars, axe throwing, speak easy and more.
This unique pizza has a white sauce, mozzarella-provolone cheese, thinly roasted sweet potatoes, caramelized onions, and humble Heart Farms goat cheese.
Enjoy this pizza inside, on the heated patio with a local housemade beer on draft.

ORDER: Four Cheese White Pizza
This strip mall wine store is a wine shop with bottles of wine to buy, but head to the back and sit at the bar or booths for an intimate dining experience. The menu has some rotating specialties with some regular items like a caprese salad, an olive mix, tinned seafood servings and 8×10 pan pizzas like the Ezzo Pepperoni and the Four Cheese White Pizza with garlic, chili flakes and lemon zest. The walls are adored with pictures of local dogs and pets. Search for some unique pets on the wall like a Roomba, plant, some cats and more!

This month Chef Bill Harden has created the entire menu! Check out the Nibble Board with three types of pimento cheese spreads, pickles, fried okra, Conecuh sausage, toast points and candied pecans. He has a brussels sprout salad, a burger with Conecuh sausage link and grilled pineapple poblano slaw and a Stuffed Quail on the menu.
The Whiskey Glazed Salmon had a sweet and savory glaze served with a sweet potato and Brussels hash.

American-Filipino Restaurant serving plated dishes for sit down or takeout. The menu changes with some staples from the owners Hawaiian and Filipino background. Fast casual restaurant located in the food garden at Stovehouse. Order to go or eat on the outdoor and indoor eating areas on the food garden campus. Fried rice, Boa buns, build your own plate with options like kung pao chicken, pepper steak, salt and pepper shrimp, tofu with mixed vegetables and more. Check out the veggie, pork or curry chicken bao buns too.
